I wanted to clarify here that Flowerpatch actually doesn't involve purchasing land. The team decided early on that land speculation is kinda lame, not super fun. Instead, you temporarily own land when you plant on it, or put down some structures (like fences) — but another player could bomb it to clear it out

This means that the world slowly evolves, boundaries get established, players that don't play anymore tend to lose their area. But you can't really go around bombing people without consequence — they know who bombed them, and may come seeking retribution :-)

Side note, our sister project in the "cannaverse" — app.grow.house — does allow for land sales and land ownership as NFTs. In the future, we may also allow players to own custom islands off the main world
