The Present Hunter’s Manual
A unique feature of the Ethereum-based Flowerpatch Game is the ability to obtain 100% free (we pay the gas) FLOWERs and other NFTs by playing our present hunting mini-game:
The rules are very simple: plant one of your FLOWERs beside the present to open it. First, till the ground using the tilling tool, and then use the planting tool on that tile. Once your FLOWER has grown up (takes 8–88 minutes depending on the growth speed attribute), you can click on the present to open it!
In the past, we have given away NFTs from Marble Cards, Ethermon, and Tides of Magic. Here’s what getting an NFT looks like:
Present Hunting Tips
Check out the community run site, Flowerbot, to see an overview of where presents are. Flowerbot tracks how many presents there are at any time, and you can click on the interactive map to go directly to location of a present. Presents spawn periodically throughout the day, and often go pretty fast… Clicking a present in-game provides up-to-date information about drop rates, supported projects, and time remaining:
As the game evolves, the present hunting system may implement some interesting new concepts:
- Having a playable koala character will make moving around the map a factor in hunting for presents. “Fog of war” may also mean that you can’t see the entire map at once
- As we implement harvesting and crafting features, presents may begin to drop in-game resources as well as NFTs
- The mechanics of presents spawning may change, for the purpose of making sure more players are able to get them. Perhaps presents will have to be “discovered” by interacting with a tile, rather than publicly visible at all times. Once a player discovers a present, the race would be on to claim it :-)
